A model before the explanation
Model 1: My father is kind.
Model 2: The rooms are small.

The useful rule and its limits
Put an adjective after am, is or are when it describes the subject.
Read for meaning, notice the pattern, then rebuild the model from memory.
- big: use it in one true sentence of your own.
- small: use it in one true sentence of your own.
- old: use it in one true sentence of your own.
- young: use it in one true sentence of your own.
