A model before the explanation

Model 1: My father is kind.

Model 2: The rooms are small.

Model 3: I am tired today.

The useful rule and its limits

Put an adjective after am, is or are when it describes the subject.

Read for meaning, notice the pattern, then rebuild the model from memory.

  • big: use it in one true sentence of your own.
  • small: use it in one true sentence of your own.
  • old: use it in one true sentence of your own.
  • young: use it in one true sentence of your own.

Repair these common errors

Not: My father kind.

Use: My father is kind.

Why: The corrected version keeps the intended meaning and the lesson pattern together.
